Mitchell S. Block leads the real estate and commercial transactions division at De Leon & Washburn, P.C.  Mr. De Leon joined the firm in 2011.  He practices in the areas of real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions and business transactions.  Mr. Block real estate practice includes leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, development agreements, reciprocal easement agreements and financing.  He has over twelve years of in-house experience, including service as general counsel of privately-held Wyatt Cafeterias Inc. and publicly traded Morrison Restaurants Inc.  Mr. Block also served as Vice President of Real Estate at Wyatt.

Mr. Block earned his J.D. from the Southern Methodist University School of Law and his B.A. in English from Southern Methodist University.  He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.

Mr. Block is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Austin Bar Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers.  Mr. Block has been an advanced seminar speaker and roundtable leader at numerous ICSC U.S. Shopping Center Law Conferences on various topics including restaurant lease issues, pad site development issues and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.  He is also an editor of and regular contributor to the ICSC’s journal, Shopping Center Legal Update.  Mr. Block has served on the Board of Directors of Barton Creek West Homeowners Association, Inc. since March of 2006, where he currently holds the office of President.
